This is a lil book I made for a exercise for my digital tools for design 2 class. Inspired by Frank Ocean's song, Pyramids, from his album- Channel Orange.

karel martens

Today during my typography course, we were assigned presentations of different graphic and type designers to present to the class. One of the students in my class presented Dutch graphic designer, Karel Martens-- and by her first slide, I already absorbed within his fun, dynamic artistic style. Come on, do you see his stuff up there?! He maaaaay be the coolest designer out there, so naturally I felt the need to share his greatness. Anyways, I hope you enjoy his work! Happy Friday 2 alllll.

anjanjaanjaaaa

I seriously have a weird obsession with model, Anja Konstantinova-- quite literally THE human kitten. She is perfect in every single way- I love her overly bleached blond hair and matching eyebrows- her 'too cool' look that rings within each photo taken of her makes me die a lil inside. My ode to Anja, aka my illustrator portrait I made of her in my digital tools class-- this image is based on a photo campaign she did for Wildfox (IN OTHER WORDS MY FAVORITE LOOKBOOK OF ALLL TIME). Btw, side-note, I am officially back from the blogger dead. That's itttt-- I must post more! And I'm working on some awesome stuff for the concerts committee her at SC and AIGA! I'll be a better blogger I promiiise!!

feelin' blue-ish

Sooo..... 2 weeks from this very day, I, Kelly Malka, will be unloading my neatly packed luggage in my new USC home in downtown Los Angeles. How crrrrazy, right?! And yea of course I'm excited, yeah yeah, but I must admit... I'm mainly nervous as heeeelllll. Starting over freaks me out, I know everything will be okay and that I'll love it (lets cross our fingers here, people), but I can't help but be so overwhelmed with anxiety! College is one of those things that just puts me in a state of distress, at least last year it did. So its kind of hard for me to snap out of it, to sit down and think Hey, you're going to a great school, people love it, the education is incredible- YOU'RE GOING TO BE OKAY. Unfortunately, my mind works opposite to this rational way of thinking. All I can say for myself at this very moment in time is to enjoy every last bit of summer I have left, do everything I will miss before being bound to a campus lifestyle, see all friends that will be traveling back to their colleges long flights away, and lastly, relllaaaaax, and keep in mind that everything will be great.

Nah, I'm not literally feelin' blue, but I'm feelin' a lil grey. Unclear, unsure, unstable. We'll see right?! Hopefully I'll be posting a lot once school starts! Let's see how much staying in sunny SoCal will inspire me this semester. Anyways, above is an orignal sketch as well as some other versions manipulated in photoshop.

I hope you aaaalll enjoy the last small moments of this awesome summer. It has truly been amazing, and I am so sad to feel it slooowly but surely ending.
